Groundbreaking New England Authors

Author, columnist, photographer, and researcher Roger Kolb, of New England Armchair Tours, will present an historical audio-visual presentation on the region's groundbreaking authors titled, "New England Authors in the Making of the Modern World" at the Middleborough Public Library this Wednesday, August 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Kolb will talk about writers from our region, such as Thoreau, Henry Adams, Emily Dickinson, and Sylvia Plath, who introduced ideas, attitudes, and trends that define the modern world. Who was the first to argue that a woman should be allowed to do everything a man does? Who became a worldwide symbol of civil disobedience, and is that symbol valid? What housewife founded the sexual revolution? Who was our first self-described alienated intellectual?

Kolb's appearance is part of the "Groundbreaking Reads" 2013 Adult Summer Reading Program (ASRP), and is sponsored by the Friends of the Middleboro Public Library. No registration is required.
