Support Wildlands Trust

Wildlands Trust works throughout Southeastern Massachusetts to conserve and permanently protect native habitats, farmland, and lands of high ecological and scenic value that serve to keep our communities healthy and our residents connected to the natural world.

The Wildlands Trust will work to sustain the rural character and quality of life enjoyed by the residents of Southeastern Massachusetts by protecting high quality conservation and agricultural lands. They envision a future where open land is abundant, our water is clean, and forests, farms, wetlands, fields, ponds, and coastal areas are commonplace sightings on our landscape.

NCC Looking for Donations for 27th Annual Giant Yard Sale

Carrying on a long-standing tradition are the members and friends of North Congregational Church in North Middleboro. Late Spring arrives and you’ll find the hall at the historic church filling up slowly with treasures and more from the community. Come late June, and Fellowship Hall tends to be bursting at the seams with a wide array of donations: furniture, antiques, kitchen items, toys, decorations & home d├ęcor, seasonal items, jewelry, linens and bedding, tools, books, electronics, sporting equipment, and so much more.

The annual giant yard sale is heading into its 27 year – with the two-day event scheduled for Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24. The team organizing the huge fund raiser is currently looking for donations. If you are in the middle of your own spring cleaning, down-sizing your life and minimizing your possessions, have family members who are moving out-of-state, then this is the place to get rid of your baggage. Please call Gwen Lang at 508-680-6199 or Ellen Cooley at 774-766-0055.

North Congregational Church is a United Church of Christ congregation and is located at 38 Plymouth Street in North Middleboro. All money raised from the yard sale and other church fund raisers go directly to the mission and vision of the UCC church. For more information about NCC, please go to www.northcongregationalchurch.com or on Facebook at North Congregational Church UCC, Middleborough MA.

Local Author Edward Lodi to Speak About His New Book

Join us on Wed., May 17 at 6:30 p.m. to hear local author Edward Lodi speak about his new book, The Pequot War.

In 1637, the Puritans waged a genocidal war against the Pequots, the most powerful tribe in Southern New England. Their objective was to annihilate the Pequots and to destroy them as a people. What, if anything, had the Pequots done to incur the wrath of the Puritans? Why did the Narragansetts and Mohegans side with the Puritans? What role did the Dutch play in the war? Lodi will answer these and other questions, and will describe the major battles of the war, including the massacre at the Pequot fort in Mystic, CT.

He welcomes questions during and after his talk, and a book signing will follow the presentation. The talk is free and open to the public, thanks to the support of the Friends of the Middleborough Public Library.
